About us

We are a family, the family of Sergio Ratti, the visionary entrepreneur who casually walked through the Cascina Diodona’s gate in 1994 and was thunderstruck by this place, realising its potential. There is Giulio, his son, to whom he entrusted the farm at a very young age. Stefania, who joined him when it was time to transform it into a restaurant and location. Mariateresa, his wife, and then Corrado, his eldest son, who look after the property as Sergio did for so many years. And then there is a wonderful staff, who are now part of this family.

Raffaella, who brought the experience of Fiera Milano and Villa Erba; Ezio, a curious and expert chef; Samuele, who as a child played in the Diodona park and today is the attentive curator of the park; Pierluigi, Massimo, Tony, Federica and Stefano who look after the service; Christian, Leda and Riccardo in the kitchen, always with enthusiasm; Ursula who checks every detail, so that you always feel as if you are entering a house. And then there are many young people, who come to learn our recipe and then stay or continue their journey: Tecla, Simone, Francesco and many others. That’s who we are!

The restaurant

Set in the hilly landscape of the Lombard Pre-Alps, between Como and Varese, Cascina Diodona is located in the centre of a five-hectare park traversed by paths bordering meadows, orchards and chestnut and oak woods. The variety of settings, the professionalism of the staff and the high quality of the cuisine make the location ideal for any occasion. The wood-fired cooking on ofyr grills and large skewers in the greenery is spectacular.

The Diodona space

The main complex, carved out of a typical Lombard farmhouse, has cosy and well-kept rooms in traditional taste: rooms with fireplaces facing the large courtyard or overlooking the park, set in a green and flowery garden. Wooden beams, exposed brickwork and terracotta floors recall the agricultural past with grace and elegance.

The Limonaia space

Upstream from the property, between the wood and the orchard, is an unusual and enchanting place to organise parties, weddings and events: the Limonaia, a splendid glassed-in greenhouse, open from April to October. It is accessed from an independent car park and cannot be reached by the Diodona’s other guests. It is dominated by the ancient roccolo, set among centuries-old hornbeams and a small lake, a place full of charm.
